Most trustees are parent trustees who have been elected by the parent community for a 3 year term. They each bring skills, enthusiasm and a strong desire to ensure that our school is run in the best interests of our students and our community.

The BOT’s Chief Executive is the principal, Warren Hawke, who is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the school. Karen Paul has been elected by the staff as their representative.

The BOT needs to be able to assure the government that:

• our students are receiving a high quality standard of education;
• national priorities for school education are being addressed in our school;
and
• the resources are being used prudently to ensure the highest possible quality programmes are provided for students.

Governors Bay School holds BOT elections every 18 months to ensure that there is continuity in the membership of the BOT. At times the BOT may co-opt additional trustees to assist with its work.
The BOT meets 10 times a year, usually on the second Monday evening of the month, at 6:30 pm in the school staffroom. Parents and members of the community are most welcome to attend.

The BOT can be contacted via Hugh Blake-Manson on 0272 123 861 or email hugh-bm@xtra.co.nz alternatively please feel free to talk to any of us at school.
