Kereru's Science Experiments.

Above are some of the children and their experiments which included;
  -  testing the ph level on fish tank water
  -  boiling water, vinegar or baking soda mixed with water to see if the PH go up, down or stay the same.
  -  which flower would last the longest when you add baking soda and water, vinegar or just water.
  -  testing to see if adjusting the ph of an apple would stop it going mouldy.

We worked through the process of printmaking using meat trays for our printing blocks. We took our inspiration from nature and created one, two and three coloured prints based on trees, plants and the environment around us. For the final two sessions Kim showed us different ways to present our work and also ways of creatively using any off-cuts from earlier sessions. We made cards from some of these off-cuts to sell at our recent expo and hope to use the funds to buy new printing equipment.

Our  'Big Understanding' gained out of our recent study topic was based around 'People's actions and choices and their impact on the environment'. To set the scene we started with The Lorax story, looking at ways that people manage and view resources and the consequences. From this, and using additional questioning, we chose particular areas that we wanted to research in more detail. We used several ways of presenting our information such as music video, drama video, brochures and experiments.
