Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the Crown entity responsible for the governance and the control of the management of the school. The Board is the employer of all staff in the school, is responsible for setting the school's strategic direction in consultation with parents, staff and students, and ensuring that its school provides a safe environment and quality education for all its students. Boards are also responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, curriculum, property, finance and administration.
Our Board is currently made up of five Parent Representatives, the Principal and a Staff Representative.
Sally-Ann Fitzhardinge (Board Chairperson)
I feel grateful to be able to live and send my children to school in such a special place. We have lived in New Zealand for the past 5 years and now call Governors Bay home. I am passionate about ensuring each and every child gets the best opportunity to learn and grow within our community. Professionally, I am also very lucky to be able to work close to home just down the road at Cholmondeley Children’s Centre. I have 15 years’ experience working in Marketing and Communication for a number of corporate organisations both here in New Zealand and Australia.
After many years of travelling, we returned to NZ to raise our young family. Having grown up in Christchurch, I knew of Governors Bay, and its stunning location appealed to us when choosing where to “settle down”. We didn’t realise just how right our choice was until we were able to move here and get to know the community and amazing school at its centre.
The recent opportunity to become a member of the new board of trustees, was too good to pass up. With one little Tui already loving her days of learning and another just a year away, I saw this as a chance to become more involved in the community and hopefully make a difference in some small way behind the scenes.
I look forward to getting to know more of our community and watching our kids, and school, grow over the coming years.
I am a Governors Bay local with two young children. The oldest attends Governors Bay School.
My work history as a Management Consultant, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner has provided me with a range of experiences in many different organisations. I am hoping to support our school’s great executive and teaching team through strong decision making support, insight into planning, strategy, and management.
I also serve on the Executive Board of Eat New Zealand. A national collective of food growers and producers, hospitality and tourism operators working to bridge the gap between New Zealand’s Food and Beverage and Tourism industries.
Judy Cooke (Principal)
It is really rewarding to work with such a fun loving and talented team who put so much time and effort into ensuring our students have the very best opportunities. I love living on the Port Hills and disappear into the peace of my garden when ever I get the opportunity.
Liza Rossie (Staff Representative)
