Kia ora whānau,
✨Community Matariki Celebration✨
A reminder that we are hosting our Community Matariki Celebration tomorrow (Thursday) evening, 4:30-6:30pm. The kapa haka performance will begin at 4:30pm, followed by a range of activities, shared kai and our annual lantern hīkoi. Please remember to bring your own cup to share in the delicious soup our PTA have prepared! We look forward to seeing you there.
Last Day of Term - YOUniform Day & Final Assembly
On Friday, our last day of Term 2, tamariki are welcome to come to school dressed in warm, seasonally-appropriate non-uniform of their choice. We look forward to seeing their unique identities shining through! Please bring a gold coin donation, which will be added to the fundraising for our playground redevelopment.
End of Term Assembly will take place at the Community Centre at 2:00pm on Friday afternoon - you are more than welcome to join us then to celebrate the end of a long yet productive term.
Mānawatia a Matariki ki a koutou.
Ngā mihi,
Christine Murphy

Kia ora koutou,
As Carmel Courtney has taken a sabbatical this year, we are trying to secure music lessons for the remainder of the year at Te Kura o Ōhinetahi.
Based on the recommendation of several whānau & local kura, we have contacted Monster Music, an in-school music programme that offers a combination of music lessons in guitar, drums, ukulele, vocals and keyboard around many Christchurch primary schools.
Monster Music has over 1200 enrolled in-school music students across Canterbury and focuses on teaching music in a modern and fun way. As well as private and group lessons, Monster Music also has a huge emphasis on performance and helping children gain confidence through music.
At this stage, we'd like to find out if there's enough interest in lessons from our community before we go ahead. If your child might be interested in receiving music lessons in the second half of the year, please register your interest below:
Monster Music Register Your Interest
Again, this is only a “register your interest” form. It's really useful for both Monster Music and our school as it give us an indication of how many students might be interested and which instruments could be popular, so if you are at all interested, please indicate so!
We are looking forward to bringing our ākonga the opportunity to engage with music again in a fun and supportive way.
Ngā mihi,
Christine Murphy

Kia ora koutou,
Just a wee reminder about our Community Matariki Celebration on Thursday 2nd July, 4:30-6:30pm. If you have not yet completed the Google form to indicate whether your child/ren will be a part of the kapa haka performance on the evening, please do this as soon as possible so we know who to expect and can plan accordingly. Thank you.
For those of you who want to practice a bit at home with your tamariki, we are singing (either parts or all of) the following waiata:
We look forward to seeing you there!

Ngā mihi,
Christine Murphy
